Indoor

If you have a window perch or hammock of some kind for your cats (you should!), putting a heated mat on it can send them into overdrive. Our cats love their window spots, and once we put a mat there and made it a warm place to be, it became their favorite thing. We also tried putting it on top of a condo and it has the same effect but you need an outlet nearby so the condo or large tree can’t be in the middle of the room somewhere.

Outdoor

Heated cat beds, mats, and enclosures rated for outdoor use will often have an optional, durable, soft fabric cover over the soft PVC structure itself. These will often have cords that extend for five feet or more out of the box and will work in more extreme conditions. If you have outside animals in a place with harsh winters, you should be sure to confirm that your pad or outdoor cat house of choice will work down to temperatures that you need it to without overheating your babies.
